TransferWise has arrived in New Zealand! What does this mean? Well, before now, transfers in and out of New Zealand were through SWIFT. TransferWise New Zealand now has a local NZ bank it can use – Bank of New Zealand.

So, when you want to send money globally out of NZ through TransferWise you can send or ‘upload’ your money locally to Bank of New Zealand. This saves you even more money!
Transfers globally were not done with TransferWise’ awesome peer to peer transfer system. This system matches global money transfers in and out of the country through TransferWise so in effect no money leaves the country. It’s just “swapped” between TransferWise customers through their system.
