The percentage deducted is in the form of a commission and it applies to the amount exchanged. The reason the percentage varies is because CurrencyFair offers two ways to exchange currency. The Auto Transaction method charges between 0.4% and 0.5%. The unique peer to peer currency exchange method will apply a 0.15% if your trade is matched by a peer. If your trade is not matched, CurrencyFair will step in and match you applying the Auto Transaction fee. This commission is built in so the converted currency amount you are offered is what you will receive. As the fee can vary depending on your method of conversion, the company advertises that the average fee is approximately 0.35%. That’s a good deal.
